At 19 Mirjam knew she wanted to heal through dance. Since then she has studied and practiced Brazilian and Cuban ritual dance. But when she encountered Biodanza, she knew she had found the perfect modality that fit her calling. Biodanza encompasses everything she seeks to share in a practice. A sophisticated weave of transformational, physical, psychological and transcendent exercises called vivencias (Spanish for living in the present) that are deliciously embodied and extremely joyous. She completed the teacher training in 2012 and has been facilitating Biodanza ever since; either as weekly classes for adults, series for families and youth or in special events such as at the Danceversity and Northern California Summer dance camps and the Dutch Biodanza festival.  Mirjam has a deep commitment to the evolution of each member in the group; gently pushing the envelope just a little further each session they come.

“Facilitating Biodanza is the highlight of my week” says Mirjam. “Biodanza is that moment when everything else fades away and the ritual of the vivencia takes over; I merely have to step out of the way as each individual, like the cells in a body, fulfills their essential role in the ever evolving life process of the group. Each session opens a path to travel through the layers of the self through: joy, tenderness, connection, creativity, transcendence, sensuality and dance. “
